Books that will keep you hooked: Reading Guide

Whether sitting on the beach, waiting in the airport, or enjoying a staycation everyone needs a good book!

There is nothing quite worse than a long flight or car ride with nothing to do. Picking the wrong book can be a game changer. I am of the opinion that on a plane you need a book that grabs you early and keeps up the intensity until the very last page. Flights can be long and the distraction is certainly welcome for me.

I love talking with friends about their latest read and word of mouth is the most trusted source for me before selecting a new book! Here is a list of books I have read through the past year. As you can tell, I am a little bit of a thriller junkie.

Hopefully you find this list helpful and accurate. Grab a book from this list and I promise you will not be disappointed. Read away my friends!

The Maidens by Alex Michaelides

I read this book because I live for the creepy and sinister Oxford College setting. Man, does Alex Michaelides deliver! This book is will make the hairs on your arm stand up. When he starts talking about all the girls in matching white robes you better just buckle up.

Where the Crawdads Sing by by Delia Owens

Ok, I will admit it. I read this because I watched the movie. I love the mystery of the marsh. I found the book paired well with poolside views and a Sangria. If you get the chance to visit the Omni Amelia Island, make sure to order the “Tropical Sangria”. You will be so mezmorized by this love triangle I highly doubt you will notice any splashing.

The Whisper Man by Alex North

This book deserves a round of applause. Congrats to Alex North; this is officially the creepiest book I have ever read, in a good way. After reading this you will be rushing home from your vacation to lock all your windows. Some serial killers just wont go away!

Behind Her Eyes by Sarah Pinborough

This book will take you down the rabbit hole. To say that I was invested in the characters would be an understatement. I found myself rooting for the husband, wife, and mistress. I knew that in the end someone would get hurt and I would be left a wreck. However, the end might have a twist that leaves you wanting more! If you are curious about sleep walking and love triangles, add this book to your cart immediately!

The Silent Patient by Alex Michaelides

I promise this author is worth mentioning twice! Hands down the quickest read to date. Two days to complete it, people! This book might distract you from the beautiful views of your vacation; it is that hard to put it down. If you think you are good at guessing the ending, this book may humble you.

Ninth House by Leigh Bardugo

If you were left feeling deprived with the conclusion of the Harry Potter series, you might want to give this book a try. The witchcraft mixed with old school campus setting makes this book one to keep you feeling haunted and hooked.

The It Girl by Ruth Ware

The main character is this book, Hannah, is a girl that will keep you guessing from start to finish. Jumping back and forth from past to present, you wont know until the end who actually killed her roommate! Or will you?

Verity by Colleen Hoover

One word; wow! This book made me uncomfortable in the best way. It is one of a kind and after finishing the book, I want to sit down with Colleen herself. Whatever inspired the creepy and twisted turns of this book, keep it coming!

It’s Always the Husband by Michelle Campbell

This book had me hooked just from reading the title. I am not a fan of spoilers but I will say the ending is quite a surprise. This book will have you wanting to call your best friend and make sure there is no mud in the water between you two!

I hope you find the perfect book for your next trip, and as always, pair with a croissant!
