Don’t go chasin’ Niagara Falls: Ontario Guide

But DO go chasin’ Niagara Falls!

If you have never been to see this world wonder, I suggest booking soon! Unless you are a Canadian citizen, grab your passport because you are going to want to stay on in Ontario.

Ontario has a little something for everyone. Major features of the city include Niagara Falls, shopping, eating, vineyards, casinos and of course maple syrup!

We decided to view the falls first!

There are different options for viewing the falls. Whether you prefer by land or sea, you can view the falls throughout the day and night.

There are several options for making your way down to the falls from your hotel room. I highly recommend starting your day early so that you can snap a few pictures without tons of people in the background! Map out your route before leaving your hotel room to avoid areas with a lot of stairs and a few dead ends. If walking is not your style, you can grab tickets for the trolley and ride around in style!

The fireworks are a DO NOT miss! This was something I will never forget. The show is typically on Friday nights when the weather is right and the falls are lit up with a full range of colors!

There are a number of boat tours and activities available around the falls. If you are fans of the office, you can hop on a fairy just like Jim and Pam. You could also hop on a speed boat, zip line, or even go on a walking tour BEHIND the falls! I would recommend buying tickets ahead of time for walking tours, boat ride and wine tours so that your favorite activities do not sell out!

Once you have dedicated a day or two to viewing the falls, it’s WINE TIME.

If you want to enjoy Niagara wine country, visit in the fall. The weather is just right and the wine goes down oh so smooth!

There is no shortage of wineries to visit. I would dedicate at least two days if you plan to see them all!

I would also book tours of wineries ahead of time. We rented a car in New York City after exploring the city for a few days and then drove to Niagara Falls. Having a car handy was worth every penny. Make sure to pick out a designated driver before you get the wineries!

If you don’t want to rent a car, there are plenty of vineyard tours that include pickup and drop off at your hotel!

Overall, Niagara Falls is the perfect long weekend! Straddling two countries, the falls and surrounding cities offer a little something for everyone. Below is your perfect itinerary.
