Lose track of time on Amelia Island: Island Weekend Guide

A weekend on Amelia Island may have you wanting to move to Florida.

Weekend plans include pool, beach, golf, spa, food, repeat!

If you enjoy morning activities and afternoon naps as much as I do, you will feel right at home on Amelia Island.

If you are looking for a resort getaway, you cannot go wrong with the Omni Amelia Island Resort or the Ritz-Carrolton Amelia Island. Both resorts offer great pools, views, and good eats!

Whether you are there for a romantic getaway or to build sandcastles with the kids, there is something for everyone! The poolside canon ball challenge was very entertaining!

SATURDAY MORNING

During our stay at the Omni, I spent most of my time at the “adults only” pool mainly because I started a new book and enjoyed the peace and quiet. There is no need to reserve a chair if you are willing to head down to the pool around 9:00am. The staff will begin coming around at 11:00 for drink and food orders! My go to everyday was the Tropical Sangria and you cannot leave without trying the Peach and Provolone Grilled Cheese. This one you will definitely be trying to make at home.

SATURDAY AFTERNOON

In the case of an afternoon thunderstorm, hop on the shuttle that will take you to and from the spa. After a massage you can enjoy as much time as you would like in the steam shower. I will warn you, it gets a little steamy in there! Pack some clothes and go straight from the spa to dinner.

SATURDAY NIGHT

We tried Bob’s Steak & Chop House and could not be happier with our choice. They are not shy with portions here (they serve Texas style portions) so I have no doubt that everyone will leave will very full!

SUNDAY MORNING

Whether you like playing golf or just driving the golf cart around, Amelia Island offers some amazing views a great time on the resort golf courses. Book a tee time at the Oak Marsh Golf Course or the The Golf Club of Amelia Island and I promise the beer will be cold and the breeze will make for a great afternoon!

For a stay at the Ritz-Carlton Amelia Island Resort, I recommend spending a lot of time sitting by the beach and taking advantage of the nature walks offered by the resort. If you are a fangirl for turtles like I am, you will not be disappointed. Plenty of sightings will be had of these cute creatures!

Overall, I recommend eating lot of seafood and not making many plans. Don’t be afraid to leave the comforts of resort life and explore downtown. There are plenty of lobster rolls, books stores, boutiques and coffee shops to fill your day. This island is one for spontaneity and soaking up the moment.
